COUNTDOWN to CYCLING SUMMIT

Cape Breton Island FIRST Cycling Summit
SYDNEY, April 5, 2006   The countdown continues to Cape Breton Island’s FIRST Cycling Summit that  will bring together a powerful mix of community leaders, tourism operators, health care providers, business leaders, government and non-profit organizations.  The goal of the summit is to discuss how to maximize cycling’s potential to bring social and economic benefits, mainly in the fields of tourism, health, and environment.  

Guest speaker at the Summit is David MacIsaac, manager of Urban Transportation Programs at Transport Canada.  He is responsible for the implementation of the Moving On Sustainable Transportation and Urban Transportation Showcase Programs.  Previous to his current position, David worked at the Privy Council Office in Ottawa and with the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency in Moncton and Halifax.  He has experience and education in program evaluation, policy research, community economic development, sustainable development and sustainable urban transportation.  He is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University and York University.
